This project tackles the nexus between the production of electricity through renewable sources and rural tourism in Portugal from an anthropological perspective. The main purpose is to further understand the links between the contemporary transition to a low-carbon society and the rural economic transition. The research topic will be studied at two levels: national and local, through field work with participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and bibliographical and documentary research. The project includes case studies of different renewable energy production technologies in the North, Centre and Alentejo regions.
