public.project.abstract

This research project carries out a critical analysis of the racial hate speeches produced and reproduced on the internet. Answering to the need to create research that stems from a critical theoretical body, the research is based on a qualitative methodology for analyzing virtual platforms. It is, therefore, intended to monitor, understand and characterize the narratives that support the spread of racial hate speeches in the Portuguese context.

Through the construction of a comparative perspective with the pre-pandemic period, a set of strategies, counter-narratives and recommendations that could contribute to deconstruct, challenge and effectively combat the racism that is manifested in the online discourse, will be elaborated.
