public.project.abstract

Afro-Cuban religiosity puts a big emphasis on various kinds of divination (material oracles, spirit possession, spiritism, premonitions, dreams, among others), as a way to redirect stagnant and deviated biographical paths. My research reflects on such issues, as they are linked to issues of personhood, (historical) imagination and politics. Also, it refelcts on how this particular ethnography may offer alternative paths, not only to the life-courses of my interlocutors, but also to the very methodological and analytical tools of Anthropology.
