CLIMAGECARE project start: Exploring ageing care, the climate crisis, and rural futures on the Spain–Portugal border
CLIMAGECARE (Ageing Care and the Climate Crisis in Villages on the Spain–Portugal Border) is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie project hosted by CRIA and Monash University, led by Carlos Chirinos. This research begins by exploring how ageing care is being reconfigured in rural areas facing a crisis of care, depopulation, and climate change. Through ethnographic fieldwork, the project will trace constellations of care and environmental transformations, highlighting local responses and contributing to debates on community, ageing, and sustainability in borderland Europe.
