This seminar will explore the significance of energy transport infrastructures, particularly in the context of the Southern Gas Corridor—a natural gas transit regime developed to connect the Caspian basin to the European Union between 1991 and 2022. Through an anthropological lens, Professor Firat will discuss the everyday labor and intentions behind energy geopolitics, emphasizing the roles of elite actors in shaping cross-border governance and statecraft through transnational infrastructures.
