CPL Seminar: "Migrant Heritage: Reflections on Museums and Migrations in Portugal"
The Centre for Research in Anthropology (CRIA) and Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon are hosting the seminar "Migrant Heritage: Reflections on Museums and Migrations in Portugal", presented by Inês Lourenço (CRIA-Iscte), on March 25th at 3:00 PM. The event will take place in Room B226, Building 4, Iscte.
This seminar will focus on the migrant heritage of Indian-origin communities in Portugal, featuring an exhibition project that explores the fluidity of borders and the complexity of identity processes in contemporary societies. Museums are highlighted as privileged spaces for diversity and inclusion, offering new perspectives and interpretations of these realities.
During the session, examples of tangible and intangible heritage will be presented, showcasing the heterogeneity of Indian diasporas and their cultural expressions. The discussion will emphasize the plurality and overlapping of identities within these groups, as well as the emergence of new heritage narratives. Additionally, the role of collaborative and inclusive methodologies in studying and representing these phenomena will be explored.
