Abstract
The scope of this research project is the "Mediterranean diet", classified as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2013, by UNESCO. The project will focus on three aspects of anthropological analysis: that of the ethnography of the networks that gave rise to the construction of the concept of "Mediterranean diet" and dynamized its transnational application to UNESCO; the analysis of the regional and local impacts of the process of its patrimonialisation, in terms of tourism, cultural and promotional offer; the prospection of its effects on domestic food practices and uses, their ruptures and permanencies. Taking into account a comparative analysis on the emblematic cities for this application in Portugal and Morocco, Tavira and Chefchaouen, the project will seek to map and debate the processes arising from this recent patrimonialisation. Through these ethnographic approaches, we will try to contribute to the densification of different conceptions of the "Mediterranean diet" and their appropriations in different scales.
