public.project.abstract

The project aims to study, digitize, and catalog a significant part of Francisco Araújo’s collection, comprising approximately 35,000 pages of newspapers and press clippings dated between 1926 and 2016. This documentary collection, focused on cycling, highlights references to the iconic cyclist Joaquim Agostinho and the sport’s evolution over decades. Using digitization and indexing techniques, the goal is to create an accessible database for research and public consultation. Additionally, the project strengthens the preservation of local and national history associated with cycling, contributing to the enrichment of the Documentation Center at the Leonel Trindade Municipal Museum. The expected impact includes the valorization of cycling heritage, increased accessibility for researchers and the general public, and the production of innovative exhibition content.
