Biographical Note
PhD in Social Anthropology (1994, ISCTE-IUL); DEA Ethnologie (1982, Université de Nice); Social and Human Sciences graduation (1979, FCSH-UNL). Full researcher at CRIA. Fellow researcher at IELT-UNL. Associate researcher at ICS-UL. Visiting Fellow at Oxford Brookes University. His research activity started in the early 70's among the team of the Museum of Ethnology, and has since developed on processes of change in the traditional Portuguese society, such as emigration, tourism and environment issues (climate change and coastal erosion; water and social sustainability, energy cultural representations); the legacy of the Centro de Estudos de Etnologia/Museu de Etnologia, and the Portuguese ethnological heritage (vernacular architecture). He is the author of several programs for museums in Algarve and Alentejo. He has explored issues on transcultural psychiatry and creative processes in art and science. Fieldworks in the South of Portugal, mainly in Algarve and SW Alentejo.
