Biographical Note
Marina Pignatelli is a PhD in Social Sciences/Cultural Anthropology, M.A. in Anthropology and Assistant Professor at the Social and Political Sciences Institute – University of Lisbon (ISCSP-UL). She has completed post-graduations in Ethnology of Religions and Sephardic Studies, and open courses in Contemporary Religions, Parapsychology and Religion, Judaism, Symbolism, Peacekeeping and International Conflict Resolution (UNITAR), Civil Crisis Management (National Defense Institute - IDN) and Intangible Cultural Heritage (DGPC-UAb). Her focus of research since 1991 is the Portuguese Judaism. She concluded a post-doctorate program on the Jews in Mozambique and is currently studying the Marranos in Portugal. She coordinated the Studies on the Middle East Post-Graduation course, the MobCiD – Anthropology Laboratory, at ISCSP-UL and is the Jewish Studies Lab (LEJ-ISCSP-UL) co-coordinator in the present. She is also a CEAF (Centre of African Studies) and a CAPP (Administration and Political Policies Centre-ISCSP-UL) collaborator, board member of the Portuguese Anthropological Association and researcher at CRIA – Centre of Research in Anthropology.
