Biographical Note
Luís Filipe Olival is PhD student full member at CRIA-UC. Having obtained his master's degree from the University of Aberdeen, under the guidance of Dr Jo Vergunst, his research project ‘Shared Sustainable Horizons - The role of integral cooperatives for a more resilient and decentralised economy’ was funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology in 2023. Since then, he has sought to combine the lenses of economic anthropology, ecological economics and political ecology in a substantial analysis of the recent wave of ‘integral cooperatives’ in Portugal. His research aims to understand the potential of this type of communal organisation to foreshadow more democratic and sustainable economic systems.
