Biographical Note
PhD in Sociology of Culture and MA in Social and Cultural Anthropology and Sociology of Culture from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Isabel Marçano is a researcher at the CICS.NOVA (Interdisciplinary Centre for Social Sciences at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa), researcher at CRIA (Centre for Research in Anthropology) at IUL (Lisbon University Institute). She is an adviser counsellor for IEFP (the Institute of Employment and Training of the Portuguese government) and she has been a counsellor for the CITE (Commission for Equality in Labour and Employment of the Portuguese government). She has relevant experience as a transnational expert. She is also an experienced psychotherapist recognized by the World Council for Psychotherapy. With experience in higher education and training of trainers, she has been dedicated to the study of social reproduction phenomena in the Portuguese society, work, unemployment and gender issues. Nowadays, she also conducts research in the social context of Spain. Until now, she has published several articles and papers, as well as two books. In 2013, the book "Children of Dishonour - Love, Sexuality and Social Groups in Alentejo", was considered as reading of the year by the Daily News with its 2nd edition in 2015. In 2015, she has published the book "Mr. Lovers Labour - UnEmployment(s) in Portugal".
