A new article has been published in Forum Agora entitled "Make sure you don't get wet... if you catch the virus, who will take care of me?" by Ricardo Vieira. This article can be read in the Quick Notes section via the following link: https://etnografica.cria.org.pt/en/agora/231.
This text, of an ethnobiographical nature, recounts the communication strategies between an institutionalized elderly person during the covid-19 pandemic and his family. It aims to demonstrate that not everyone truly understood what the pandemic was all about. An elderly deaf man with Parkinson's used his epistemology to define what a global flu was. The family, faced with difficulties in hearing and understanding their neurologically ill relative, found the "Paulo Freire method" to be a way to encourage conversation and reflection based on key words and their own cultural understanding and experiences.
