Call for Assistant Researchers in the field of Anthropology - Iscte
This call is part of the FCT Tenure application and seeks to fulfil CRIA's objective of consolidating the area of Public Anthropology.
CRIA is looking for a motivated and experienced researcher with a strong background in Cultural and Social Anthropology, especially with a focus on public engagement and interdisciplinary research. The researcher should have experience in addressing pressing social issues and demonstrate an ability to work with diverse communities and forums.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Ethnographic research around complex social issues such as relations between humans and non-humans (whether primates or bots); technological modernisation, artificial intelligence and globalisation; environment, climate change and biodiversity; heritage, museology and tradition; migration, mobility and human rights; politics of memory, restitution and reparation; economy, public policies and livelihoods; religious practices; conflicts, wars and culture clashes;
- Engaging with communities and stakeholders to build relationships, gain insights and facilitate dialogue on pressing social issues;
- Developing interdisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions and interventions that address social challenges, in close proximity to CRIA's hubs and Associated Laboratories of which CRIA is a part or partner: IN2PAST and SocioDigital Lab;
- Communicate research results through various channels, including academic publications, reports, digital platforms, presentations and public events;
- Offer advanced training for students enrolled in CRIA's doctoral programmes, as well as mentoring junior researchers in the development of their projects;
- Create and develop new courses on emerging trends and developments in the field of Public Anthropology, thus contributing to the advancement of the discipline;
- Develop new projects, identify funding opportunities and build partnerships with national and international organisations.
