The RG QPD Seminar titled "Workers to Capitalists: Repositioning Berlin’s Middle Class" will explore the dynamics of the middle class in contemporary Berlin, drawing on Siegfried Kracauer’s analysis of the 1920s. The discussion will focus on how today's professionals perceive themselves as autonomous individuals whose human capital is influenced by their efforts.
Hadas Weiss, who holds a Ph.D. in social anthropology from the University of Chicago, will lead the seminar. Her research examines the social aspects of contemporary capitalism, and she is the author of We Have Never Been Middle Class: How Social Mobility Misleads Us.
The seminar is scheduled for November 28 at 5:30 PM and will be broadcast live via Zoom.
