public.project.abstract

The research intends to analyse the contemporary processes of heritagization in the realm of food, and more specifically of confectionery, in Portugal. Its purpose is to contribute to understanding the centrality acquired by this practice, the way it is viewed by individuals and groups and its repercussions, namely in terms of identity. Crossing the areas of anthropology of food and studies of memory and heritage, and making use of ethnographic research, the investigation focuses on official processes, as well as subtle and private forms of production of memory and relation with the past. The project comprises the production of visual materials.
