public.project.abstract

The final goals of this project are: 1) the study, cataloging and online publication of the Ethno-Photographic Archive of the Center for Ethnology Studies (AEF-CEE), ensuring the full inventory and cataloging of the files in the database, with a view to its online publication and wide public dissemination, in particular for the return of information systematized in the archive to the communities documented there; 2) Study the AEF-CEE in detail, identifying its protagonists, the themes and research techniques - with special attention given to the use of photography - and interrogating its relationship with the successive lines and research projects of the CEE and MNE; 3) Contribute to clarifying the role of the CEE in the development and institutionalization of the anthropological discipline in Portugal; 4) Understand the importance and context of AEF-CEE in the broader History of Photography in Portugal.
