Biographical Note
Vera Silva holds a master in Social and Cultural Anthropology with the thesis "Control and punishment: the female prisons. Exploratory study on a feminist anthropology of prisons on the Portuguese context". Her research experience is on intervention systems on violence against women and children, sexual violence prevention, feminist theories and methodologies, prison studies, popular culture, oral history and life history. Currently, she is a PhD student in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Coimbra developing the project "Gender Configurations in female prisons in Portugal". She is also an activist and volunteer in feminist projects and organisations, actions and groups for the rights of prisoners and of civic and cultural intervention.
