Biographical Note
Susana Silva is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the Institute of Social Sciences, University of Minho. She is Chair of the Ethics Committee of the Portuguese Sociological Association (2025–2027). With a transdisciplinary background, she combines sociology with the social studies of science and technology and pragmatic ethics in research, focusing on people-centred health policies, integrated care in socio-technical environments, and the implications of disruptive technologies. Her current research interests have centred on public participation in the regulation and governance of controversial technologies, and on the social and ethical challenges arising from the use of artificial intelligence applications, particularly in clinical and human reproduction contexts.
