She holds a Ph.D. in Social Anthropology from the University of Barcelona (2023) and, since 2018, has been conducting ethnographic research in the Lower Casamance (Senegal) as well as among the Senegalese diaspora in Barcelona. She specializes in the fields of urban anthropology and religious anthropology, with a particular focus on forms of popular Sufism among marginalized groups both in Senegal and among its diaspora in Spain. Her postdoctoral research follows this same line of inquiry, exploring the presence of Senegalese Islam in the Iberian Peninsula from a comparative perspective, focusing on the cities of Lisbon and Barcelona.
