On 28 and 29 October 2024, Lisbon hosted the Lisbon Conference on Feminist Epistemology: An Interdisciplinary Dialogue, bringing together researchers from various fields to discuss the challenges of feminist epistemology. The event took place in the FCiências.ID Amphitheatre at Ciências ULisboa and at the Clube Iscte Conhecimento e Inovação do Iscte, promoting a space for debate and the exchange of ideas between different disciplines.
Feminist epistemology, which emerged in the 1980s by Anglo-Saxon feminist philosophers and scientists such as Sandra Harding and Donna Haraway, has been highlighting the presence of sexist prejudices in scientific practices. With a programme made up of various lectures, round tables and papers, the conference covered topics such as gender and identity, intersectionality, epistemic justice and values in science.
