CRIA at the European Researchers’ Night 2025
NEI2025 | SCIGLO – Science for Global Challenges
CRIA will take part in the 2025 edition of the European Researchers’ Night (NEI), taking place in Lisbon on 26 September at the National Museum of Natural History and Science (MUHNAC), University of Lisbon. From 5 pm to midnight, the public is invited to join two interactive activities that combine science, art, and collective reflection on contemporary challenges.
RiVER: Other Views on the City
Led by Kitti Baracsi, in collaboration with two children and an adult, this workshop offers an intergenerational experience of the city and its multiple perspectives.
Based on the itinerant project RiVER, an artistic and ethnographic observatory centred on the river and on nature, participants are challenged to “re-see” the urban space through a multimodal glossary imagined from the perspective of the river. The initiative explores how emotional, political, and social landscapes are transformed when nature is placed at the centre, encouraging creative reflection on cities.
Target audience: children aged 8+, young people up to 18, and adults.
A Sea of Decisions: Exploring the Energy Transition through Offshore Wind
Conducted by Catarina Santos, this activity challenges the public to reflect on the dilemmas of the energy transition, at a time when Portugal is preparing to expand offshore wind power on a large scale.
Using a physical map of the Portuguese coast and realistic dilemmas — representing the perspectives of policymakers, local fishers, or environmentalists — participants are invited to choose between different options, symbolised by emojis, and to reflect on the social, economic, and environmental impacts of these decisions.
Target audience: young people aged 12–18 and adults.
