PhD Applications Open – 2nd Phase

Applications are now open for the PhD in Anthropology, a joint programme offered by Iscte and NOVA FCSH. The second application phase is currently open and will close on 16 June.

Since the 1980s, the Departments of Anthropology at NOVA FCSH and Iscte have become two of the leading centres for anthropological teaching in Portugal.

In the 21st century, their research centres came together to form CRIA – the Centre for Research in Anthropology – which now includes the majority of the PhD teaching staff, alongside CEI-Iscte (Centre for International Studies), CICS-NOVA (Interdisciplinary Centre of Social Sciences), and IHC (Institute of Contemporary History).

The two anthropology departments were merged to create this joint PhD, now in its 6th edition, promoting collaboration among faculty, researchers, and resources from both institutions. The aim is to strengthen a doctoral programme with international scale, synergy, and academic excellence.
