PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology, anthropologist and public health nurse expert, associate professor and coordinator of the Department of Community Health, Nursing School of Lisbon, coordinator of the courses Anthropology and Sociology (Nursing degree), Anthropology and Public Health (Master of Community Nursing) and Socio-anthropology of chronic disease (Master of Medical-Surgical Nursing). Maria Manuel Quintela has developed her research in the anthropology of health with studies on the therapeutic practices, hydrotherapy and spas, 'thermalism', water, pain, health care, public health nursing history in Portugal and Brazil. At CRIA, she is responsible for the thematic line Health Anthropology.
