Max Ruben Ramos holds a PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon (2015). He was a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra (2017-2018), as part of a European project on Islamophobia in Portugal. He has also taught at the University of Cape Verde and ISCEE. He has participated in several research projects funded by FCT. His areas of interest include religion, international migration, urban studies, race, (anti)blackness, critical theory, music, and visual culture.
