Biographical Note
Douglas Santos da Silva is a PhD candidate in Social Anthropology in the joint programme between ISCTE-IUL and NOVA FCSH. He holds a Master’s degree in Anthropology from ISCTE-IUL (2020).
His research interests focus on Subaltern Studies, popular performances, and the dynamics of representation and representativity. His work also engages with Queer Studies, reflecting on forms of organic collectivity and social agency. He further includes among his research interests the study of the Islamic world, with particular attention to Islam in Goa.
He is a member of the collaborators’ team of CRIAções, a science communication platform of CRIA — the Centre for Research in Anthropology. He was a scholarship holder at the Fundação Oriente and served as assistant to the curatorship of the exhibition Foto Arte Ganesh at the Fundação Oriente, developing experience at the intersection of anthropology, the arts, and curatorial practices.
