Biographical Note
António Castelo is a PhD candidate in Anthropology at ISCTE/FCSH-NOVA. He is currently carrying out fieldwork in Guinea-Bissau, seeking to problematize the illicit trafficking of wood from species whose trade is criminalized, through an ethnographic approach with those who locally position themselves as facilitators or intermediaries of this activity. His work on this project is overlapping with his work as a research assistant at the Centre for Global Criminology at the University of Copenhagen, more specifically on the CRIMTANG project, which focuses on the entanglements that materialize in the various trafficking and transnational criminalities, from trafficking in human beings, environmental crimes, drug trafficking, among others.
