CRIA – Centre for Research in Anthropology – welcomes applications in the field of Anthropology and other close social sciences as the host institution for individual doctoral scholarships awarded by the Portuguese Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) in the 2021 PhD Studentship call.

CRIA will not accept applications:
- after the deadline (March 3rd);
- where the supervisor (CRIA’s full member) is not defined (contact with the supervisor is the sole responsibility of the candidates).
The proposals will be examined and CRIA’s decision will be communicated to candidates until March 11th, through the e-mail address provided in the form.
Important:
1. Check the regulations of the PhD program where you intend to apply/are enrolled. In most of these programs the supervisor must be a professor at the respective university.
2. The CV will be associated to the application through the CiênciaVitae platform. If you do not yet have it on this platform, you must do so. It is mandatory. Instructions HERE.
3. PhD applicants having obtained previous degrees from a non-Portuguese University: it will be necessary to register the degree and have the grades converted to the Portuguese scale. Without this the evaluation results can be undermined. You can do it at Direção-Geral do Ensino Superior or in a Public University: http://www.dges.mctes.pt/DGES/pt, and add the registration document to the application form.

About CRIA:
CRIA is a leading Portuguese research unit in Anthropology and allied sciences, associated with four public universities – Iscte, NOVA FCSH, UC, UMinho. It currently hosts 178 research fellows, mostly university lecturers and professors, post-graduate research fellows and others. The combined four universities prove CRIA with unique, and overarching, resources and facilities to support research and training both at national and international level.
