Abstract

This project aims to analyze the intersections between tourism and national identification processes in Cape Verde, especially on the islands of Santiago and São Vicente. These islands are promoted as “essence” of Cape Verde and as prime destinations for cultural tourism. The research focuses on the perspective of the hosts of the tourist encounter, especially those involved in processes of culture commodification for tourism purposes.
