Biographical note

Doctorate student in Anthropology, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCSH/UNL). Márcio António Farias de Freitas has a master’s degree in Social Sciences, post-graduation (Lato Sensu) in Social History and a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES). He is a Fellow of CAPES – Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel. His interests and experiences are articulated around the following themes: symmetrical anthropology, socio-environmental conflicts, human presence in conservation units, traditional populations, identity processes, among others. Member of the Brazilian Association of Anthropology (ABA), the Portuguese Association of Anthropology (APA), the Centre for Research in Anthropology (CRIA, Portugal) and the Research and Study Group on Fisheries and Development in Espírito Santo (GEPPEDES / UFES).
