Biographical note

Marcela Jaramillo Contreras has more than 10 years of work experience in community involvement with cultural heritage protection — mainly in Colombia, but also in Korea, Somalia and Albania — and on disaster risk management of heritage. She has collaborated with World Heritage nominations and has been working with communities’ participation, including minorities living in armed conflict regions and internal displaced population. Marcela has brought to bear her skills in positions with the Ministry of Culture of Colombia, Cultural Heritage Institute of the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá, Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation, Intersos -Nairobi, and Cultural Heritage without Borders -Albania, among others. She has a master’s degree in World Heritage and Cultural Projects (Turin University, Italy) and a master in Political Science from Andes University in Bogotá, Colombia.
