Biographical note

PhD in Anthropology from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (22nd July 2011), MA in Anthropology from the Universidade do Minho (11th August 2003) and BA in Anthropology by the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (7th November 1996). José Carlos Pinto da Costa has coordinated several projects on the ethnographic survey of “places of memory” and on life histories in the regions of the Algarve and Trás-os-Montes. In higher education, he taught and conducted courses on sociology, tourism and fieldwork, and anthropological analysis. His research interests cover topics such as the representations of health and illness, help-seeking career, e-Health discourses, cultural control processes and anthropology of economics and politics.
