Abstract

This research project aims to contribute to the collaboration between academic work and museums in the field of anthropology, in order to understand the different logics that govern institutionalized and informal patrimonialization processes. There are three interlinked axes on this research: the location and extensive knowledge of the various collections and types of materials originating in colonial India in Portuguese local museums and private collections. The second axis focuses on the analysis of the religious and cultural heritage of communities of Indian origin in Portugal. Chained in the logic of the previous ones, the third axis proposes an approach of the consumption and the cultural industries with inspiration in India centered in the way in which these allow an activation of the patrimony, contributing for its own imagination and construction of meanings and uses.
