The deadline for proposals to have CRIA as the host institution in applications to the FCT call was postponed.

The proposals will be examined and CRIA’s decision will be communicated to candidates on July 1st, through the e-mail address provided in the form.
CRIA – Centre for Research in Anthropology – welcomes applications in the field of Anthropology and other close social sciences as the host institution for individual doctoral and post-doctoral scholarships awarded by the Portuguese Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) in the 2016 PhD Studentship and Post-doctoral Fellowship Call.
CRIA is a leading Portuguese research unit in Anthropology and allied sciences, associated with four public universities – FCSH/NOVA, FCT-UC, ISCTE-IUL, UMinho. It currently hosts 211 research fellows, mostly university lecturers and professors, post-graduate research fellows and others. The combined four universities prove CRIA with unique, and overarching, resources and facilities to support research and training both at national and international level.
CRIA’s research activities stems from four main research groups (RG), allowing for satellite research agendas to be incorporated. The RG are: 1) Circulation and Place-making, 2) Environment, Sustainability and Ethnography, 3) Governance, Policies and Livelihoods, 4) Practices and Policies of Culture. CRIA also hosts several thematic lines and smaller groups devoted to specific topics: visual cultures and arts; health; Islamic contexts; informal resources, State and social capital; religion. For PhD applicants having obtained previous degrees from a non-Portuguese University: it will be necessary to register the degree in a Portuguese institution (in Direção-Geral do Ensino Superior or in a Public University: http://www.dges.mctes.pt/DGES/pt, and add the registration document to the application form.
For Post-PhD applicants having a obtained the doctoral degree from a non-Portuguese University: it will be necessary to register it in a Portuguese institution (in Direção-Geral do Ensino Superior or in a Public University: http://www.dges.mctes.pt/DGES/pt, but the registration document can either be added to the application or uploaded later if the candidate is awarded with the fellowship.
