Biographical note

Amélia Frazão Moreira holds a PhD in Social Anthropology from ISCTE (2000). A former lecturer at the Department of Economics and Sociology at UTAD (between 1988 and 2001), she is currently a professor at the Department of Anthropology at FCSH/NOVA (since 2001). She was member of the Executive Board of CRIA (May 2009 – October 2015). Her main fields of research are environmental anthropology, ethnobiology, and ethnoecology. She has coordinated and participated in different research projects, conducting studies on the cultural and historically constructed relationships between humans, non-humans, and the environment, questioning social rationalities, touristification processes, and biodiversity conservation programs in Portuguese and African contexts (Mauritania, Guinea-Bissau, and Mozambique).
